From a Hemingway-inspired rum cocktail to the ultimate summer G&T, we bring you five cocktail recipes with a twist. Cocktail umbrellas are entirely optional
Mauritian Rum Daiquiri
50ml Pink Pigeon Gin; 25ml fresh lime; 1tsp sugar syrup
The combination of zesty lime and vanilla-rich rum makes for a refreshing take on Hemingway’s favourite. Put all the ingredients, along with a generous scoop of large-cubed ice, into a cocktail shaker, shake vigorously and then drain into Martini glasses. For a longer serve, try it on the rocks.
The Ultimate Gin & Tonic
50ml No. 3 Gin; 100ml Fever Tree Premium Indian tonic water; slice of pink grapefruit
Fill a high-ball glass to the top with large-cubed ice (the larger the cubes, the slower the dilution) and add a measure of No. 3 Gin. Top with tonic, rub the slice of pink grapefruit around the rim of the glass and add to the drink.
The King’s Ginger Summer Cup
25ml The King’s Ginger; 75ml cranberry juice; 75ml Fever-Tree lemonade
What better way to relax at the end of a hard long than with a long, cool, refreshing drink? The easiest of recipes – simply mix together and garnish liberally with berries and lemon slices.
Wimbledon Cocktail
3 cardamom pods; 2 strawberries; 20ml Aperol; 50ml Chase Sloe Gin; 1 egg white
The Met Bar has put together a Wimbledon-inspired cocktail which will be available until the end of July. Alternatively, pour one for yourself at home.
Orchard Mist
Bottle of Kingston Black Apple Aperitif from The Somerset Cider Brandy Company; 1.5l ice-cold lemonade; small handful of crushed fresh mint, plus raspberries or strawberries; Burrow Hill apple juice
A refreshing drink with a taste of vintage apples. Serve as a Pimm’s and imagine yourself transported to a Somerset orchard in blossom. Mix the Kingston Black Apple Aperitif with the lemonade, and add the fresh crushed mint, some raspberries or strawberries and a wine glass of apple juice. Serve from a large jug with plenty of ice.
