We defy anyone not to feel the teeniest bit excited by London’s iconic Christmas window displays. From seriously sparkly disco glam at Harvey Nicks to the theme of Once Upon a Christmas at Harrods, these five magical windows are guaranteed to put you in the festive mood.

Harrods
‘Once upon a time at Christmas’ – and the wonderful world of moving puppets and performers – is the theme of the Harrods window displays on Brompton Road. Prepare to be enchanted by everything from an outsized Hansel and Gretel gingerbread house by Rosalind Miller to Burberry’s Thomas bears go the theatre.

Harvey Nichols
Using about one million flakes of glitter, more than 300,000 sequins, 15,000 gift boxes, 620 mirror balls, 540 baubles, 15kg of glue sticks and 30,000 staples, the Harvey Nichols Christmas window has been transformed into disco central. Sparkle it most certainly does.

Fortnum & Mason
Each of the 21 windows at Fortnum’s are inspired by its collaboration with illustrator Kristjana S. Williams who has created designs ranging from intricately painted geese to puddings and sweets – transformed into 3D to create dream-like scenes. Roosters, parrots and 300 owls all make an appearance.

Liberty London
We can always rely on Liberty to put on an impressive Christmas window display and this year is no exception. With its very own special guest Kylie Minogue at the big reveal, the Regent Street store has transformed its windows into a series of rooms resembling a giant surreal Wes Anderson-inspired doll’s house. Expect wall-to-wall print and more than the occasional splash of pink.

Selfridges
The Oxford Street store was the first in the world to unveil its 12 Christmas window displays. It takes the ‘Journey to the Stars’ as its theme, features 12 signs of the zodiac and was 12 months in the making. Marvel at the sheer creativity of it all before heading up to the rooftop for a warming winter cocktail or a spot of lunch at Selfridges’ latest pop-up restaurant, Forest.
