Forest Restaurant & Cabin Bar on the Roof

Feast Restaurants

There’s something about forests and log cabins that can’t fail to get you in the festive mood, which is why we’ve fallen for the Forest Restaurant & Cabin Bar on the Roof, the latest luxury rooftop concept at Selfridges

A pop-up collaboration between the Selfridges flagship store and restaurateur Des McDonald, Forest Restaurant & Cabin Bar, is designed to evoke the autumnal forest and woodlands of England, and looks like being the perfect place for shoppers to pause awhile from their Christmas shopping and recharge their festive batteries.

As you might expect, the menu includes lashings of forest-inspired, hearty dishes, such as hot pots, grilled meats and fish and seasonal vegetable dishes, while the Cabin Bar on the terrace, which has outdoor lodges that come complete with cosy blankets to keep guests warm and a bespoke photo-booth lodge, is a great spot to indulge in a warming mulled wine or two, or one of the Cabin’s famous “Choctails”.

With a kitchen headed up by head chef Lee Bull, starters include Windsor Estate mallard on toast and a mulled cider vinaigrette, Foxes Farm pumpkin and goat’s cheese tart and Juniper gin cured salmon served with pickled cucumber. Diners can also choose from an array of main dishes including Baked game meatballs served with vegetable orzo, Wild Highland Roe deer fillet with kale and an elderberry sauce, and truffled mushroom risotto and Duck shepherd’s pie with autumn squash. Meanwhile, head pastry chef Siobhan Ambrose has created a dazzling dessert menu featuring Chocolate Forest; Rose custard tart, Treacle sponge served with whisky Anglaise, and a Pina Colada jelly.

Let’s put it this way: if you go down to Selfridges this winter, you’re in for a big surprise.
