Jaguar unveils the British Design Edition F-TYPE

Cars Speed

You have to hand it to Jaguar – when it comes to flying the flag for Britain, it knows exactly how it’s done. Only days into the new year the British motor company has launched the exclusive British Design Edition F-TYPE, based on the F-TYPE’s S Coupé and Convertible, using a colour palette inspired by the Union Jack: Caldera Red, Glacier White and – new to the F-TYPE range – Ultra Blue.  Ultimate Black is also available.

A celebration of the company’s proud British heritage, enhancements to the F-TYPE’s award-winning design come from the Sport Design pack, Satin Grey 20-inch Cyclone wheels and discreet British Design Edition badges front and rear, with unique branding on the centre console, headrests and the stainless steel tread plates.

Jaguar’s Director of Design, Ian Callum, says, “The F-TYPE is a sports car that excites the senses, with a visual drama that is both individual and very British. Creating the British Design Edition gave us the opportunity to subtly enhance the way the F-TYPE looks – inside and out.”

The interior offers Jet leather, together with contrast stitching in the same three distinctive patriotic colours – Red, Ivory or Reims Blue. Replacing the aluminium of the F-TYPE S around the centre console is carbon fibre trim, which compliments the interior perfectly. Jaguar’s InControl Touch and InControl Touch Plus infotainment systems have been developed to improve interaction and are also offered with upgraded Meridian surround sound.

Power comes exclusively from the 380PS/ 460Nm supercharged 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine, matched to the eight-speed Quickshift transmission all-wheel drive.

The exclusive F-Type is available to order now at Jaguar UK, with customer deliveries beginning in spring 2016. Priced from £75,225 for the Coupé version, and £80,390 for the Convertible.
