Emilio De La Morena is a London-based designer who has a huge celebrity following, including Kate Moss and Caroline Issa. This velvet V-neck skater-style dress from his AW14 collection is a firm favourite of mine. Another favourite is London-based designer, Erdem. His designs are always super-luxe, which is reflected in this ‘Justine’ crystal-embellished velvet dress from his AW14 collection. Classic black keeps it chic and easy to wear all year long; £2,785 at net-a-porter.com
Finally, I have chosen a piece from the Italian designer Giambattista Valli. This fluid and feminine honeycomb embroidered dress graced his AW14 collection and I knew instantly it would be a fashion favourite. Alexa’s top tips for AW’14
Invest in a great Statement Coat. Don’t be afraid to go for a bold colour – I’d recommend a strong blue this season for something a bit different. Or try the blanket coat, as seen on the runway at Burberry.
Take a walk off the beaten track – try stores and designers you haven’t tried before. Individual style isn’t about what other people are doing, it’s about what works well for you – a style or designer you have been wearing for years may not be the best option for you – be brave, take a risk and if in doubt seek enlist help!
There are so many amazing designers around, especially in London. A new emerging talent perfect for the AW season is ‘Shrimps’, known for their amazing faux fur (another key trend for AW14) and they specialise in developing amazing quirky coats and scarves, perfect for blustery days.
An oversize clutch bag looks super chic, will fit everything in and you can use it for the daytime through to the evening.
