Amaretti fans will love the new Biostilla Amaretto Deluxe Organic from Vintage Roots, with its dense almond fragrance and subtle hints of vanilla. Biostilla uses natural bitter almond oil rather than usual commercial flavourings used for most amaretto drinks, as well as organic bourbon vanilla and organic cocoa beans. £25, from Vintage Roots

For a different take on roast chicken, tuck a couple of slices of this shiitake mushroom-flavoured butter, from Anglesey-based butter makers Melyn Mon, under the breast skin before roasting. Recently awarded a two-star Great Taste Award, the butter comes from a farmers Co-operative in Caernarfon, where all the cows are pasture-fed, and the shiitake mushrooms are supplied by a grower in Snowdonia, from Melyn Môn

For a touch of foodie nostalgia, how about this Beef Dripping from James Whelan Butchers of Clonmel in Co. Tipperary, Ireland, which beat 10,000 entries to be named Great Taste 2015 Supreme Champion. Made from the suet of grass-fed Angus and Hereford beef, rendered down and clarified into a pure, richly flavoured dripping, this traditional product imparts a rich savoury note into all manner of dishes, from roast potatoes to shortcrust pastry.
