For high-achieving ultra high net-worth individuals, enlisting the services of a luxury matchmaking company is becoming an increasingly popular way to find the right partner. Here, we talk to Lemarc Thomas, managing director of the exclusive Seventy Thirty, which has relationship psychology at its core, boasts an impressive 85% success rate – and has 56 babies to show for it…
What was the inspiration for launching Seventy Thirty?
Susie Ambrose, our founder, is responsible for one of the dating industry’s major success stories to date: Seventy Thirty, exclusive matchmaking company. Susie ingeniously spotted a gap in the personal introductions market at the beginning of this century, which then led to the creation of the first exclusive luxury matchmaking company with relationship psychology at its core. With a background in psychotherapy and a team of psychologists, Susie developed a personalised, consultative and highly effective service. Using psychological expertise, experience and strategies, we get to the core of who our members are, what they need – and then we find it! Rather than simply throwing matches at our members, they embark on a journey. Our approach has been highly successful in terms of member experience and business.
What is the concept behind the business?
Seventy Thirty took on the bold challenge of, not just connecting people, but finding exceptional, long-term, committed and fabulous relationships for our members. Not an easy task! We respect the traditional methods of matchmaking, using the gift of instinct, however, we go beyond that adding the psychology of relationships. By understanding our members’ core values and beliefs, their personality and lifestyle, relationship goals and life goals, we are able to find true compatibility.
We offer our clients the highest level of service, we are generous with time, we want to encourage a more ethical approach to matchmaking ensuring matchmakers have professional conduct. We employ psychological professionals who are motivated by helping others and who are trained under strict ethical codes.
We have a psychological matchmaking model and part of this means that we are a learning organisation. We promote learning and development at all levels in our organisation and we are not scared to change, take risks and respond to our environment.

Do you have a favourite success story?
D, an American technology tycoon in Asia, came to Seventy Thirty because he thought British women were effortlessly sophisticated and elegant. He wanted to find a lady like this in Singapore. We told him that we had the perfect lady for him, but he needed to fly to Stockholm. Surprisingly he said, “OK, I’ll go this weekend.” We then did not hear from the two of them for almost two years. At the end of last year we got in touch with L, the effortlessly sophisticated lady in Stockholm, and she said, “I’m so embarrassed… after meeting it all moved so quickly. I married him and moved to Singapore after seven months. It was our one year anniversary in October.”
How do you differ from traditional dating agencies?
Our bespoke, professional and discreet service has an extremely high success rate, with over 85% of Seventy Thirty members finding a relationship through us. The loveliest symbol of success for us is the fact that so far 56 babies were born out of the relationships created by Seventy Thirty.

We are the leaders in the field: Seventy Thirty has been noted as the agency responsible for leading the matchmaking industry to becoming the lucrative market place that it is today. When we started, there was no other agency operating at the exclusive luxury end of the market. We had emails from professionals in the dating industry saying that no one will ever pay that much for matchmaking. However, Seventy Thirty made a bold statement, matchmaking exclusively for very prominent, successful individuals with resulting high net worth. We paved the way for other agencies entering the market realising that relationships are the most important part of one’s life and one is willing to invest significantly in finding the right partner.
We have a large international membership base: Seventy Thirty has prominent members in all the major cities around the world.
We have a large professional team and an international team of consultants. We have a relatively large team at our head office in London with a network of 32 consultants in various locations around the world.
