Take time out to relax, unwind and luxuriate this spring with our round-up of some of the UK’s best luxury spas, from the world-class Moroccan hammam at Harrods Urban Retreat and the Bamford Haybarn Spa at Fortnum’s to House Spa at Dormy House in the Cotswolds

Over the course of the past few years, Urban Retreat at Harrods has undergone a complete refurbishment and now has one of the largest salons in the world, with 32 styling stations, 21 beauty rooms, 14 manicure and pedicure stations, a make-up salon and a world-class Moroccan Hammam. If this doesn’t transport you to a world far away, nothing will!

A multi-million pound renovation of the 38-room Dormy House has transformed the traditional 17th century Cotswold farmhouse into the finest small hotel in the Cotswolds, with a rather special new spa, House Spa, designed by Sparcstudio. The pool alone is enough to set hearts racing and the Diamond Indulgence, their Natura Bissé spa day, will leave you shining bright like, well, a diamond.

In a landmark Georgian building in Bath, the Gainsborough Luxury Bath Spa hotel is a mere three-minute walk from the Roman Baths and a hop and a skip from the Royal Crescent. The Bespoke Couple’s Surrender treatment, for example, promises 120 minutes of bliss – a completely uplifting and rejuvenating spa experience which includes a two-step invigorating full body scrub, a warm wrap, and a full body side by side massage including warm stones.

Billed as a”nourishing space for self-reflection, rejuvenation and massage treatments”, the new Bamford Haybarn spa at Fortnum & Mason has a holistic approach to wellbeing based around a connection with nature. Choose from a tantalisingly luxuriant list of treatments, from the Bamford De-Stress Massage to the “profoundly relaxing” Jade Stone hot and cold stone treatment. Unadulterated bliss.

The private members’ club for women, Grace Belgravia, is built on a philosophy that to thrive in today’s thrusting modern world we need to invest in our greatest asset – namely our health. Grace Spa uses the raw power of Nature – thermal mineral water, purifying algae, essential oils and herbs – to help you achieve optimum emotional, physical and mental wellbeing – all in very conducive surroundings indeed.

Spa aficionados can’t fail to fall in love with ESPA at the Corinthia Hotel, which was voted best UK Hotel Spa by Condé Nast Traveller in 2014 for very good reason, and features an amphitheatre sauna, vitality pool (above), ice fountain and black mosaic steam room. Expect dark, opulent interiors of black Italian marble, mood lighting as well spa treatments that focus on detox, sleep, weight loss, pregnancy and general vitality. And prepare to be blown away.
